We Are Family

By Justin Brown ( Contact )   March 12, 2008

My sister Elisabeth, her husband Ryan and their two sons live in Iowa. My sister, even though she has an Elementary Education degree from Drake University, has elected to wait on "work" and do "real work" as a stay home Mom. At least until the boys are off to school on their own.

My Brother-In-Law Ryan is a Manager for Walgreen's as a Pharmacist. They are both excellent parents.

Because of the distance, work schedules and just "life", Mary and I don't get to see them as often as we'd like. We hope to be able to see them very soon.

Their oldest son Connor, is 2 years old. He'll turn 3 next month. Their 2nd son Garrett is 3 months younger than our daughter Mallory who was born July 18th. He was born in October 17th.

Here are some photos of my nephews:

My half-Brother Andy lives in Minnesota with his girlfriend Melissa and their beautiful daughter Cadence.

Here's Andy & Cadence and Elisabeth, Ryan & Connor during a visit to Iowa. (Garrett wasn't born yet)

I look at these pictures and it's amazing to me how much Cadence, Connor and Garrett look similar to Mallory.

It's hard living away from family, but thank goodness for pictures.

Is there a way you send photos Online to family that you've found to work out well?

Maybe Mary and I need to break down and finally buy a digital camera first. Taking the pictures, having them developed, and then scanning each one by hand takes up a lot of time. Any suggestions on digital cameras?

I have posted photos on our family website for a few years now. A couple days after each holiday or other family gathering, everyone knows to head over to the website to see all the photos I took. The software I use actually puts them into "albums" so each event can have its own set of pictures.
Also, you definitely need to get a digital camera. It will save you money in the long run! As a dad of 4 girls, I can certainly vouch for that! I currently use a Canon PowerShot A510 and bought my 10 year old a Kodak Easyshare C713 that takes great pictures too. Both are relatively inexpensive.

We have a great one! It's a Nikon Coolpix. Believe it or not, I got it at Gander. It's 8 megapixel and has a lot of great features on it. It's actually meant for the outdoors person to take shots of wildlife and what not, but we use it for everything! I love it!
