Fall Turkey Hunt

Fall Turkey Hunt

By Justin Brown ( Contact )   October 3, 2008

I've been out Spring Turkey hunting the last 2 years. Unfortunately, Tom and Jake have been outsmarting me.

This is the 1st year I've gotten a tag for Fall Turkey Hunting.

My buddy Jason called me up and asked if I had any plans last Sunday (9/28). I checked with the Mrs. and didn't have any "honey do chores" that day and was free to get out in the woods.

I'm happy to report that I finally got my bird! Here's a picture of my 15lb Tom with 5 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs. He should be mighty tasty this Thanksgiving!

What a great day! Brett Favre threw 6 TD passes the same day, and the Brewers won making the Post Season for the 1st time since 1982. It's too bad both Wisconsin and the Packers lost that weekend. But hey! I got my 1st turkey. What a great day.

Any fall hunting reports you can share? Bow hunting? Turkey? Pheasant opens on 10/18.

Do you have a favorite Turkey recipe?

I went Turkey hunting this past spring (my first time EVER) with my husband. We saw 4 turkeys come in, I shot at one with my new 12 gauge, but all I got was a duck!!! Maybe next year.
