Door County Weekend

Door County Weekend

By Justin Brown ( Contact )   September 22, 2008

Three years ago, Mary and I went to Door County for our 1st Anniversary. It was our 1st time to Door County also. You may recall me talking on my show about the "cabin" where we stayed. It's called Cornerstone Suites. When we pulled in, I thought, "We're staying here? Are you kidding me?"

For those who may not remember, Cornerstone Suites is an old barn that has been completely remodeled into beautiful cabins on the inside. (pictured below) Mary failed to mention this to me the 1st time we went there. Hence my reaction when we pulled in.

We enjoyed our stay so much the last time, we decided to stay there again only this time try a different suite. And one with a bit more room as Mallory was going to be with us. We brought along her Pack 'N Play, Elmo fold out couch, swing, a good handful of toys and just about everything else you need to pack with a 14-month old.

Our suite (The Garden) was perfect. Big dinning room with a range, fridge, sink, microwave and all the comforts of home on the 1st level. We brought some growceries with us.

Upstairs was a "Living/TV" room. Perfect to set up a gate and put Mallory for the night. Mom and Dad took the big bedroom complete with whirlpool and bath.

And there was even one more room yet that we didn't use. Another loft area. Nice for reading and/or relaxing with a few windows giving a nice view.

We spent a lot of time driving around Door County and checking out the shops and sights. We drove to every "State Park" in Door County and had a nice time.

If you get the chance to see Door County....GO! By the way, the colors are just starting to change. They should be spectacular very soon.
