Flat Stanley!

Flat Stanley!

By Mike Austin ( Contact )   January 15, 2008

I got an e.mail a while back, from Mrs. Wade's 2nd grade class in Evansville. She asked if I would be interested in being a host for a project called, "Flat Stanley". My friend "Flat" as I like to call him, is a little paper man. Students take him with them wherever they go and send him around to friends and family, who then take pictures of Stanley going with them through their day. We all then write little diary enteries about our adventures together! Well, "Flat" arrived today in a custom made, brown envelope with the nessesary documentation. So far we've done the weather together and taken some pictures around the studio. I hope to post those here soon. I almost crushed his little paper head when I let him try on my headphones! I had never heard of 'ol Flatey...but he's quite the celebrity around here. Stan Stricker (who is NOT flat) came in from the newsroom to talk with "Flat-ster" and tell me about when his boys hosted a Flat Stanley. So far MY Flat Stanley is doing well....there is even talk in the boss's office about replacing me with "Flat Stanley" on the air!!!!!! If that happens...I might have to introduce Mr. Flatman to our new paper shredder! KIDDING!!
