Thank God for neighbors!

Thank God for neighbors!

By Mike Austin ( Contact )   January 30, 2008

My wife and I moved to Wisconsin from Michigan back in 2000. One of the first things we noticed is that we actually knew our neighbors. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but in Michigan, we never knew or even talked to any of our neighbors. It was just one of those things that never happened. Our first winter in Wisconsin, I was shocked to have my neighbor come over, without being asked, with his snowblower and clean off our driveway. It was weird when I tried to give him a few dollars...he just smiled and said, " I like to do this"! I bring this up because, over the weekend, I came down with Bronchitis and my wife, Lisa, got ill as well! Uh Oh the double whammy...now we still had to cook etc....neighbors to the rescue! We have some really great folks across the street from us. They brought over some homemade soup and offered to watch the kids while we rested. God Bless good neighbors!

Every neighborhood can be great and giving. It all starts with you. You can be that neighbor that is there to help. When others see what you are doing they want to also help and that is how it all starts.

That is so cool. My boyfriend and I recently bought a house in a small neighborhood on Lake Lorraine in Whitewater area and the neighbors have all come over and introduced themselves. They even snowblow our road and driveway for us, no questions asked. It is great cause I never new any previous neighbors, ever! How great this world would be if every neighborhood was this great and giving!
