The Father-In-Law!

The Father-In-Law!

By Mike Austin ( Contact )   July 8, 2008

So here it is early to mid July which means it's only about month before the Austins leave for our vacation in Michigan (my wife's home state). I'm already starting to get geared up and in mental preparation for a week with....THE IN LAWS!! They've already been over here this year. I know my kids really look forward to "Nana & Papa" coming to visit or going to their place...let's say it together...PRESENTS! Do you look forward to visits with the in-laws? To be honest, I DO get along very well with my in-laws and kind of look forward to their coming to Wisconsin...to spoil my kids and tell me how much I've messed up their daughter's life! Just kidding! Thing is, when they come over here, it's a few hours together during the day then they leave for the motel. Nice! But, when we go to Michigan, they insist we stay at their place..saves money...but we're always there! As I said, I DO get along fairly well with them, I even call them "Mom & Dad" sometimes. And I have to admit, my Father-In-Law has given me some good insight as to how my wife ticks. He DID know her way before I did. The cool thing is, I can talk to and with Lisa's Dad about things and in a way I never did with my own Dad. Lisa's Dad is a lot like my own Dad...without the edge. So I guess I should really be looking forward to our trip to Michigan. One thing is...I am getting all kinds of tips on being a Father-In-Law myself someday!

As far as talkn' to your 'F.T.I.L.' I don't have one, but my BOSS sure does fit the profile you mentioned. Easier to talk to, has way more knowledge about everything(in a diffrent view than I'm use to). He is the easiest boss I've ever had. Maybe it has something to do with the business is family owned?
