Tropical Paradise

Tropical Paradise

By Tim Beggs ( Contact )   February 18, 2008

It's time to get back to work following 8 days in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I was lucky enough to travel with my friends at Van Galder Tour & Travel. The trip was AWESOME! Jennifer Willner was our leader and she was great. She deserved some time in the sun after keeping us all in "check" during our stay. Over the next several days I thought I'd give you an up close and personel look at the time I spent in paradise. I look forward to sharing some stories of our adventures and even some pictures that I can't wait to show you. This is my story.

Day one started following the end of my show on Tuesday, February 5th at 11pm. The snow had already been coming down for sometime when I got home around 11:30pm. The bus was scheduled to depart for Milwaukee at 2:30am and I still had to pack. We left the house at 2am and the snow was getting heavier. We load up and head out for the airport. Jennifer tells us our flight that's scheduled to leave at 7am is now delayed until 10am. So we have plenty of time to get there. Thats a good thing because by this time the roads are a mess and our bus is going right through the teeth of the storm. stay tuned.........................!

The roads are very bad and all of us on board are pretty quiet. I try like most to keep my mind off the storm and focus on the fun that awaits us. We travel like strangers in the night. We pull into the airport just after 5am and as we file in with luggage and sun screen in hands we find out one guy in our group is missing his passport. Dan Gable is his name and I did get his permission to include it in this blog! Dan is going through everything he has and there's no passport. No passport, no travel! The bus has already left and Jennifer calls it back to search for the missing documents. The passport is not on the bus. Dan is forced to climb back on and ride alone back to Janesville in hopes of locating it and making it back to Milwaukee on his own in a raging snow storm. It's a good thing were delayed, but is there enough time for Dan to make it? Most of us are placing bets on the situation. I don't think he'll make it. The roads are dangerous and it's snowing hard.........(to be continued) Image
