Adventure Dan

Dan and Jack the Bus Driver (who deserved to vacation with us after driving to Milwaukee and back in the storm) return to Janesville. Dan finds his passport on the dash in the van where he left it. He's on his own from there. There's no deluxe motorcoach this time. He gets in the van and pulls out of the lot. He later told me the drive back to the airport was a nightmare. He said it was frightening, almost like a blur. I believe him. We do get word in Milwaukee that Dan has found his passport and was on his way back. There was no doubt in most of our minds that Dan wasn't going to make it back in time for the flight to Punta Cana. If he did it would be a miracle. My head begins to bob as we wait in the airport. My girlfriend Kathleen tells me to go and stretch out on the floor for a while. I'm tired and that floor looks pretty good. I try to rest, but rest on the airport floor isn't cutting it. My friend Erv Weber who's traveling in our group along with his wife Shiela hands me his carry-on bag for my head to use as a pillow. It does help. I get some rest. Thanks guy! It's now 9am and we are still waiting to board our flight. It's still snowing and I feel much better after relaxing as best I could. There's no word on Dan and his situation. We start moving towards our gate. After going through the security check we herd towards our gate and wait. By now everyone is happy that we made it this far. Odds were against us as far as the weahter and we only lost one member. Maybe he can catch another flight? This is about 3 hours before they eventually close the airport due to the storm. It might be a while until there's another flight. Then we hear our flight is boarding over the loud speaker. Vacation is almost starting to materialize. We still have a 4 hour flight, but at least were loading the plane. I'm pleased to have an emergency exit seat. There's more leg room and I need it. As we prepare for take off I get word from Erv that Dan made it back. He survived the ride and he's on board. Unbelievable! He did it. Image
