Timmy's Top 5
Happy New Year! I thought I'd share a list of the Top 5 shows I had a chance to see in 2007. #5 Mel Tillis- Walworth County Fair, Elkhorn, Wi. Prior to the show Big Red and I had a chance to speak with Mel. Earlier in the year he had been asked to join the Grand Ole Opry Family and was inducted into the County Music Hall of Fame. He was very touched that we brought it up. You could see in his eyes how much those well deserved honors meant to him. A great night and a great show. #4 Cross Canadian Ragweed- Joe's Sports Bar, Chicago, Il. One of my favorite live bands. They take me back to my rock and roll days. I think because they are LOUD and GOOD. Joe's is a great venue. #3 George Jones- Rock County 4H Fair, Janesville, Wi. Are you kidding me? The Possum in Janesville? A legendary night to say the least. Jones is Country! The best thing was getting to meet George prior to the show. A Kodak moment. Thanks to Big Red I've got the photo and signiture to prove it. #2 Dale Watson- The Club Tavern, Middleton, Wi. This was a tough choice. Dale Watson is the real deal. I'll put him up agaisnt anybody in country music today. I've seen him several times and still can't get enough of him. Got Dale? #1 Willie Nelson/Merle Haggard/Ray Price/Asleep at the Wheel-The Riverside Theatre, Milwaukee, Wi. Do I have to explain? The highlight of this awesome event was shaking Willie's hand as he walked off stage. An amazing show at a real fine place.

I can back you up on two of those shows. You can't argue with seeing Jones do his thing. And whenever Dale Watson comes to town you know it's going to be a good time. What's next? Maybe some Mandatory Merle?
