What if “We Didn’t Start the Fire” was a country song? That’s kinda the premise behind Toby Keith’s new track “That’s Country Bro,” in which he name-checks dozens of Music City legends. The track opens with Keith singing the names of Jimmie Rodgers, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Johnny Horton, Bill Monroe, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Wills–all just in the first 18 seconds of the song. Emmylou Harris, Conway Twitty, Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings also receive a shoutout, as do a slew of country-fied TV shows and movies like The Dukes of Hazzard, Smokey and the Bandit, Glen Campbell’s Goodtime Hour, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. The track, which Keith co-wrote with Bobby Pinson, doubles as the name of Keith’s upcoming summer tour, which kicks off May 26 in Forest City, Iowa.
