Chris Young remembers his late friend Adam, who he lost in a car accident, in his new song “Drowning.” Released on Friday, the heartbreaking track tells the all-too-real story of missing a special someone that left this world far too soon, and includes lyrics such as, “Missing you comes in waves and tonight I’m drowning.” “Everyone can relate to it in one way or another,” the singer tells People. Young also details the emotions he went through whole performing the song at the Grand Ole Opry on June 6. “I tried my best to pull myself together, but I just couldn’t,” he explained. “And then the audience all stood up and started applauding, and that was it. I couldn’t finish the song.”
