As part of celebrating its 75th anniversary, the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce announced that it will be holding its first festival for 2021—Family Fest in Putnam Park. Family Fest will take place on Saturday June 26th and feature free games for the kids, live DJ, fair food, cornhole bags tournament, live music by the State Line Playboys, fireworks and much more. Family Fest will begin with a patriotic parade at 11 am. “The Independence Day Parade, traditional held on July 4th, is being incorporated into Family Fest which will be the last Saturday in June,” says organizer Michael Lowery of the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce. “Our goal is to increase participation in the parade as we celebrate America’s Birthday and honor our veterans.” The parade route will begin at 11 am starting from Brodhead Police Station and make its way north along West 3rd Ave, east onto 3rd St, north onto Cedar St, east onto Alpine St and end at Legion Park. The Brodhead Cardinal High School and Middle School Bands will be performing in the parade.
“Putnam Park will be a great spot to view the parade and we invite you to bring your lawn chairs and blankets as food vendors will be serving great items for your picnic lunch in Brodhead’s Putnam Park,” says Lowery. Businesses, organizations, and individuals are highly encouraged to
participate in the parade and may contact Jeremy Pinnow at (608) 897-2013 to register their parade entry. No candy or handouts will be permitted during the Parade. Following the parade, other Family Fest activities will begin at noon on Saturday June 26th in Putnam Park. “Our goal is to host a free event where we can come together as a community and celebrate,” says Lowery. “Putnam Park is a great Brodhead treasure and provides lots of room to social distance. The Brodhead Chamber of Commerce invites you to bring your lawn chair and picnic as we
come together to celebrate Brodhead.”
Family Fest includes a live DJ and free camps-style games for the kids like the hula hoop contest, tug of war, and more. Many organizations will be hosting the games. A cornhole bag tournament will be held during the day. Food vendors will be on hand with a great menu of fair favorites. The State Line Playboys will perform at 6pm. A salute to our veterans occurs at 8:30 pm and Fireworks will happen at dark. “Community is important to Brodhead and Family Fest gives us the opportunity to celebrate who we are,” Lowery said. “Please join us as we create new memories and remember those from our childhood. We are proud to be serving the Brodhead area for 75 years!”
