Children’s Museum of Rock County, Inc., adds another chunk of change to its fundraising campaign.
BlueScope Buildings, which acquired Evansville manufacturer Varco Pruden in 2008, donated $50,000 to the children’s museum campaign to fund construction of the facility.
Campaign chair John Westphal says the museum’s board of directors was excited to receive the donation from an established Rock County manufacturer.
The capital campaign has raised $9.6 million so far, moving ever closer to its initial $10 million goal.
Westphal says fundraising will continue beyond that amount, adding the board made a decision not to borrow money for construction. He says that’s because when the museum opens, its revenue likely won’t be enough to cover debt service on top of its operational costs.
