The Rock County Democrats have not shared details, but the group says Vice President Kamala Harris plans to visit Janesville on Friday as she wraps up her swing through battleground Wisconsin.
The Democrats posted a signup on their Facebook page so people can RSVP the event to try to get on the guest list.
A location and a time have not been announced, although a representative of the Harris-Walz campaign emailed a Big Radio reporter confirming “the VP (Harris) will hold a small event in Janesville” on Friday.
The local Democrats had been referring to the campaign stop “Kamala Harris’s Visit.”
An electronic RSVP through the campaign appearance’s apparent sponsor, Wisconsin teachers union WEAC says the “approximate doors open time” for the event is “expected to be in the afternoon.”
The WEAC document calls the campaign visit “Harris for President Campaign Event with Special Guest in Janesville.”
Rock County Democrat officials at the Janesville field office told a Big Radio reporter that as of midday, they were still waiting to learn details of the visit.
The local field office announced it would be closed Friday “due to the arrival of Vice President Kamala Harris in Janesville.”
Harris has campaigned in Madison this week to deliver her final argument in the lead up to the Presidential election. She’s traveled with a cast of pop music stars and celebrities as she makes her final few visits to Wisconsin.
New polls show Harris has a slim lead in Wisconsin over former President Donald Trump, but most pollsters say that spread is within a margin for error.
That means it remains a literal dead heat between the Harris and Trump going into November.
Trump has spent the last few days hitting Wisconsin, too, with visits to Green Bay, and a scheduled stop in Milwaukee on Friday.
Harris plans her own stop in Milwaukee on Friday, as the two go toe-to-toe to try to win Wisconsin and Michigan, both which represent blocs of Electoral College votes that could decide the outcome of the election.
In October 2020, Trump made a fly-in on Air Force One to the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville to lead a rally here.
