The City of Janesville is announcing new customer service hours for City Hall, Janesville Transit, Fire Station 1, Police Services, the City Services Center, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Water Utility Building, effective December 2, 2024. The new hours are being set after a review of customer use and reflect the changing customer service needs as more services are being moved online.
In City Hall, the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, Planning and Engineering Divisions, City Manager’s Office, Recreation Services, and Human Resources Office will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Utility payments received from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays in the Wall Street Drop Box will still be marked as received that day.
Additionally, Janesville Transit, Fire Station #1 and the Police Services Lobby will be open during those same hours. Bus routes will be unaffected by the change in building hours. As always, emergency services are available 24 hours per day by dialing 911 and an after-hours doorbell is available at the Police Station in the event of an emergency.
Housing Services in City Hall will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The City Services Center will be open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Water Utility will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“The new hours will allow for staff development and provide opportunities to complete critical work that is otherwise unable to be completed due to the need to staff a service window.” City Manager Kevin Lahner said.
