The 27-year-old Janesville man accused of stealing a vehicle with a toddler inside and then abandoning the child on the side of the road in freezing weather is bound over for trial.
Wednesday afternoon in Rock County Court Kristopher Klein waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, abduction of a child, abandonment of a child, and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
Prosecutors say after abandoning the two-year-old on the side of the road, Klein continued driving until police used stop sticks and a PIT maneuver to disable the stolen vehicle he was driving.
Klein is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $200,000 cash bond.
23-year-old Neanni Bowman of Beloit who police say came along for the ride, is facing similar charges as Klein. She is is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
