A hands-on STEM initiative in Janesville empowers students to apply engineering and design skills to make a real-world impact, fostering independent mobility for young children.

For the second year in a row, students from the School District of Janesville worked with mentors from SHINE Technologies to modify Power Wheels for children with limited mobility.

The kids worked for over six weeks to design and customize vehicles tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Modifications included removing foot pedals and installing hand controls, special taller back rests, and custom harness safety belts.

The kids were presented with their new rides during a special event Thursday morning at Blain Supply in Janesville.
