Local Civil War history comes alive in Milton this weekend.

The Milton House and North Goodrich Park once again will be the sites of Civil War Living History Days this Friday through Sunday.

Visitors will hear from President Abraham Lincoln, see artillery demonstrations, and have a chance to interact with local soldiers, medics and civilians who lived through the transformative years of the U.S. Civil War.

The first day is reserved for school trips before the event opens to the public for the weekend.

Special events planned Saturday include a living cemetery tour, presentations about the Underground Railroad and Harriet Beecher Stowe, and “Pints with Lincoln” at Good Works Brewing Company. Sunday will feature a Civil War-era church service.

Keighton Klos, executive director of the Milton House, says the living history format gives people a more personal perspective about the time period than a traditional museum exhibit.

More details about the event can be found at MiltonHouse.org.
