A 19-year-old from Janesville who was 17 when he helped rob a woman at gunpoint will have five years behind bars to think about what he did.

In February Ishmail Gill plead guilty to armed robbery and operating a vehicle without consent.

Janesville police say officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 3800 block of Creekside Drive in February of 2024.

The victim was able to get the license plate of the vehicle as it left the area. The vehicle, which turned out to have been stolen the day before, was located near Wright Road and Stuart Street.

Gill and a 15-year-old boy were apprehended after a short car chase.

In addition to five years in prison, Judge Ashley Morse sentenced Gill Wednesday afternoon to two years of extended supervision.
