Four Janesville grade schools receive a state honor.

The Department of Public Instruction announced its 2023-24 Wisconsin Schools of Recognition on Thursday.

Adams, Jackson, Jefferson and Washington elementary schools were recognized as High-Impact Schools.

Schools receiving that award serve a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students and have above-average achievement when compared to similar schools.

The Schools of Recognition program started in 2003 but went on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. This week’s awards were the first given out since the pause.
