The Beloit Public Library is recognizing those from the community who support library programming. Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amy Mitchell says the Beloit Public Library Foundation gave out two awards during its Donor Appreciation Event last week. Bookleggers, an early literacy program in which volunteers bring curated backpacks of books into third-grade classrooms each month, received the First Edition Award. The Foundation also presented the Library Champion Award to the late Steven Platteter [[ plat-ah-ter ]], a dedicated library leader who devoted more than three decades to advancing library services across Wisconsin.
