Beloit man accused of ramming squad car

A 49-year-old Beloit man is accused of ramming his vehicle into a squad car that was trying to pull him over.

Arthur Conner III is charged in Rock County Court with attempting to flee an officer, two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, and three counts of bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint, a Beloit Police officer who was assisting the U.S. Marshall Service in apprehending Conner on a warrant saw him driving a black Lexus in the area of Middle and Hackett Streets.

The officer activated his emergency lights, and pulled in front of Conner’s vehicle at a stop sign. Conner is then accused of accelerating and crashing into the squad car.

Conner attempted to accelerate away again, before exiting the vehicle and being placed under arrest.

Conner is currently being held i the Rock County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
