Grace’s Gifts 5K and Family 1 Mile Run/Walk

For years, we have leveraged both music and food to assist those in our community through events like the Echo Christmas Dinner, Janesville Adult Prom, and Lizzy’s Army. Tragically, in May 2019, during a canoe trip with our scout troop, a sudden turn in the river caused a flip that pinned my 15-year-old daughter underwater against a tree. Despite our efforts and the involvement of rescue crews, it was too late to save her.
As a single dad, I endeavored to give my twins a wealth of experiences, from camping and concerts to Disney trips and cultural events. After the accident, we shifted our focus to providing similar experiences to traumatized children, like those who witnessed the tragedy. This has been our mission for the past three years, and we have worked hard to sustain it.
We have maintained these efforts over the last five years through events like Meat Raffles and the annual Snazzfest music festival.
This year, we are excited to introduce the Grace’s Gifts 5K and Family Mile Run/Walk at Palmer Park. Our goal is to create an alcohol-free event that brings the community together.
