Janesville officials are investigating the cause of a residential fire on the city’s near south side. Firefighters were called to a home in the 400 block of South Jackson Street just before 1:30 a.m. Monday. When the first units arrived, firefighters found light smoke throughout the first story of the structure. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
