A young child is in critical condition with non-survivable injuries after a crash in the town of Union.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the intersection of North Highway 14 and West Elmer Road just before 5 p.m. Sunday on the report of a crash.

Following an investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles, 21-year-old Annalyse Schneeberger-Barbieur of Brooklyn was arrested for operating after suspension causing death, child neglect causing death, and second-degree reckless homicide.

Police say Schneeberger-Barbieur was south on Highway 14, driving too fast, lost control on the icy road, and hit an oncoming vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Stoughton man.

The man had minor injuries and was treated on scene. Schneeberger-Barbieur was treated for minor injuries.

Police say a four-year-old who was in Schneeberger-Barbieur’s vehicle was not secured in a child safety seat during the crash. The child remains hospitalized with injuries that police says they are not expected to survive.
