Ice Cream Social & Artists in the Park & the First Brigade Band

July 20 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

Beginning at noon the Friends of Beckman MIll group will be celebrating their 35 Anniversary at the annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, July 20th at Beckman Mill Park. Ice cream, cake and root beer floats will be served. Artists will be stationed in the park painting for guest to observe. Some artists may have some paintings for sale. Just for kids: special art projects, ice cream making, operating a corn sheller and helping the blacksmith! All supplies are provided. Tour the operating 1868 grist mill, the museum and visit the gift shop from noon until 3 p.m.

At 3:15 the First Brigade Band will perform music with antique instruments attired in uniforms and the ladies in beautiful gowns. It is a unique form of showmanship that blends the sights and sounds of the period with historical anecdotes. The performance is on the lawn so bring your own chairs.

There is no charge for any of the treats or performance, but donations are gratefully accepted. The profits from the day will go toward the maintenance of the buildings and equipment so that the Friends of Beckman Mill volunteers can continue to educate the public on the milling process.
The park is about 5 miles west of Beloit on County Road H south of Hwy 81. Call 608.751.1551 or visit www.beckmanmill.org or Facebook page. What a great way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day!
