The 23-year-old Janesville man accused of shooting the mother of his child in the stomach and leaving her for dead in April appears poised to take a plea deal this week.

Logan Barclay is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Rock County Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Barclay went on a walk with the victim, 22-year-old Kiersten Hansen, along the Peace Trail in Janesville the night of April 16th, and then shot her in the stomach over an argument about her possibly being pregnant again.

Barclay had been scheduled for a calendar call in Rock County Court on Friday.

According to online court records, Barclay’s attorneys filed a plea questionnaire, waiver of rights last Thursday, and Friday’s court appearance before Judge Jeffrey Kuglitsch was changed to a plea hearing.

Barclay is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
