A 34-year-old Beloit man is charged with armed robbery after being accused of holding up a local Kwik Trip with a black and gold handgun on New Year’s Eve.
Prosecutors say Adan Eduardo Casique entered the convenience store on Prairie Avenue during the early-morning hours of Dec. 31 and approached the checkout counter. A Kwik Trip employee said she had known him since she was a child because he had dated her mother.
Casique pulled out a handgun from his hoodie and showed it to the employee multiple times. He then took off with cigarettes and a Rockstar energy drink without paying, telling the employee he would pay for them later. Casique made his initial court appearance on Jan. 2, where his cash bond was set at $500.
