Not only will Red Road House remain open following the death of founder Billy Bob Grahn, but they’ve got several beds available for those kicking a drug or alcohol addiction.
An ongoing GoFundMe fundraiser has improved the organization’s finances, but much more will need to be raised if the seven-bed facility in Janesville’s Fourth Ward Neighborhood is to continue.
A recent report from longtime house manager Mark Bumpus indicates current funding and income from placement agencies and clients might last for the rest the year.
Grahn, who overcame his own addictions, founded the residence for homeless alcoholics in 1992. Hundreds of people have passed through its doors over the years, helping them stay on their paths to recovery and to rebuild their lives.
Grahn’s guiding principle for Red Road House was that recovering from addiction requires stable housing.
