Chase Rice surprised fans last Thursday with a new seven song collection called The Album Part 1, which he has describes as “the best work I’ve ever done,” The Tennessean reports. Rice followed a non-traditional path with the release, dropping the new album without an official announcement ahead of time, although he has been teasing the release for a while. The new collection features the single “Lonely If You Are,” as well as tunes “Best Night Ever” and the pop-leaning “American Nights.” Rice is also set to appear on Monday’s The Bachelor. Us Weekly reports that Rice had a previous relationship with contestant Victoria F, and that his “bad breakup” with her helped inspire the new album. “It’s one of those breakups that was like neither one of us deserved it,” the country star, 34, told Entertainment Tonight last week. “We’re both good people. She’s great. It just wasn’t the right time.” He also revealed that he played some of the new stuff for her, which made her “uncomfortable,” he said. “She never thought she’d have a song written about her and if she did, she didn’t want it to be that.” The follow-up to his first career No. 1 hit, “Eyes On You,” “Lonely If You Are” is a laid-back, smooth song is driven by acoustic guitar, with Chase singing to a woman he’ll drop anything to spend time with.
