Beloit Memorial Hospital gets high marks from an independent hospital watchdog group.
Leapfrog Group, which focuses on patient safety, gave the hospital system an A for its overall grade. Hospitals are graded twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
The group takes more than 30 performance measures into account when giving its grades. These measures include errors, accidents, injuries and infections and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
Beloit Health System was the only one in the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois region to get an A.
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville got a C, while Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center-Janesville got a D.
