Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT): A Proven Approach for Parkinson’s

Join Edgerton Hospital for an informative and engaging presentation focused on understanding how Parkinson’s disease can affect speech and voice, and how specialized therapy can help individuals maintain strong communication. In recognition of Parkinson’s Awareness Month in April, this free program is being offered to help raise awareness and provide education for our community.

This educational session will be led by Emily Kieck, MS, CCC-SLP, Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist at Edgerton Hospital, and will introduce LSVT LOUD®, an evidence-based, intensive voice therapy program designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

From 11:00am – 11:45am in Conference Room Monarch at Edgerton Hospital – Edgerton Clinic, attendees will learn how Parkinson’s can impact speech, including reduced volume, monotone voice, and difficulty being understood. The session will explain how LSVT LOUD works to strengthen vocal volume, improve speech clarity, and build confidence in everyday communication. Research shows that early intervention can help individuals maintain communication abilities and support overall quality of life.

Participants will also learn who may benefit from therapy and will have the opportunity to ask questions during an open discussion.

“Effective communication is essential for maintaining quality of life,” said Kieck. “LSVT has been shown to significantly improve vocal strength and clarity in people with Parkinson’s, and we are excited to share this information with our community.”

This free event is open to individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, caregivers, family members, and anyone interested in learning more about speech therapy resources available in our community, but registration is required.
