The April 12th Blackhawk Bank BIFF Year Round weekly feature film is The Monster Within (Harlem Veteran Project). The film won Best Illinois Feature film during the 2017 festival.
Synopsis: Since 2012, The Harlem Veteran Project has dedicated their time to recording and preserving the stories of American Veterans. Through this process the students have learned the long term impact of war on individuals and the community. In 2016, the Harlem Veteran Project students took an extended look into the impact war had on veterans, Jim Thew and Alex Feggestad. During this journey the students learned the reality of war and Jim and Alex experienced the power of healing through oral history.
Admission is $5 adults, $2 students, or free to members of the Film Society of Beloit. Films start at 6:30pm and free coffee, dessert and water are provided at each program.
Please note that tickets are NOT pre-sold, seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. These films are very popular so please make sure to arrive early to get a seat.
